Whether you are just beginning flight training, or finally getting around to finishing your ratings, ATA can help you achieve your goals. Our staff of highly qualified instructors will provide the training and guidance necessary to become a fully certificated Private Pilot. The flight training and additional requirements for the certificate are as follows:

40 Hours Total Flight Time
20 Hours of Dual Flight Instruction
10 Hours of Ground Instruction
10 Hours of Solo Flight
8 Hours of Cross-Country Flight
3 Hours of Night Flight
3 Hours of Instrument Training

It is important to note that these are the MINIMUM training requirements to apply for the Private Pilot certificate. More time may be required to attain the necessary proficiency prior to your FAA Private Pilot practical examination. The national average is 70 to 80 hours.

FAA Requirements to Become a Private Pilot:
Be at least 17 years old.
Pass the FAA written examination.
Receive Instructor's endorsement.
Pass the FAA practical test.
Be able to Read, Speak & Understand the English Language.

Best Rate Plan
This requires a payment of $1200 and reduces your hourly rate by $5 per hour. When the balance reaches $0 another $1200 payment will need to be made to keep the lower rate.

Block Time
To receive the best rate plan, requires a initial $300 payment which is non-refundable

Flight Simulator
>> $80/Hr includes PCATD and instructor. Instructor must be present to log time
>> $40 / hr. for PCATD; $40 / hr. instructor rate.

Discovery Flights
Not sure flying is for you? Sign up for a discovery flight and you will receive your 1st flight lesson. This will include a brief ground school and a review of the flight controls while in the cockpit. You will start the engine, taxi to the runway, take off, fly around the area and land under an instructor’s supervision.
